Shan ZhaoJian, the Snow Mountain “Bo Le”

The first ski champion in China,  Mr. Shan was the Director of the ski department of the National Sports Commission and the secretary-general of the China Ski Association.
The name "Shan Zhaojian", after Beijing's successful bid to host the Winter Olympics, resounded through the land of China and became famous all over the world. Known as the first skier in China, the Father of Chinese skiers.

As early as 1993, Shan wrote a book on skiing, boldly proposing that the origin of human skiing is China's Altay since that year, Shan led a team of experts to investigate and study the Altay region, and after 13 years of continuous pursuit, from theory to practice, from the formulation of a number of research "standards" to many "empirical evidence", a comprehensive and scientific petroglyph showing the ski hunting of the ancient Altay people was obtained. the petroglyphs of 10,000 years ago show the ancient Altay people stepping on their homemade "wool skis" and holding a single wooden pole to ski on the snow, which is the earliest attempt of human skiing.
Since the release of the "Altay declaration", Shan has conducted in-depth research in Altay many times, publicized Altay at home and abroad, actively participated in the development of ski resources by the local government, under his guidance, the Jiangjun Mountain Ski Resort in the Altay region, the Keketuohai Backcountry Snow Park, etc., combined the ancient fur ski culture with modern ski elements to create a beautiful ski town, driving the four seasons of tourism, and becoming the most popular place for tourism in Xinjiang.

On March 23, 2018, Mr. Sesmacia, president of the World Ski Association, presented the "lifetime achievement award for World Ski history research" to Shan.

On the night when Jingzhang successfully bid for the Winter Olympics, Shan stayed up all night excited after being interviewed by CCTV reporters! He looked at the sky with twinkling stars and recalled the journey he has traveled over the years, with tears in his eyes: The sweets and bitters experienced in the past two decades have ushered in the glory of dreams come true. The ski area that I have built with great concentration has grown wings to take off. By then, it will undertake most of the race events of the winter Olympics, and will produce 51 Olympic gold medals!

In 2019, in order to showcase the development history of global skiing at the Winter Olympics, the Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese donated 100 million yuan in construction funds to build an overseas Chinese ice and snow museum in Chongli. After completion, it will be a world-class venue for displaying ice and snow culture. Shan actively participated in the site selection, design, and exhibition arrangement of the museum. In every museum expert demonstration meeting and seminar, his speech has won rounds of applause.

in the summer of 2021, when the museum collected exhibits, Shan poured everything he had and donated all the items, documents, materials, and photos he had collected all his life in skiing, which greatly enriched the content of the exhibition hall.
In order to realize the dream of "300 million people on the ice and snow", an 83-year-old Shan is committed to cultivating ski successors, constantly participating in the public welfare publicity activities of "ice and snow covenant, helping the winter Olympics", and is keen to promote ice and snow sports and popularize skiing knowledge and skills.
